Can you help me plan my wedding, or do you just book travel?
A Weddings by Funjet concierge can be your guide through the entire wedding process - depending on your needs. We work with couples on everything from choosing the right destination and hotel and booking their travel all the way through determining the details of the wedding itself and planning excursions for guests in destinations. Your concierge can help you determine what level of service you need, but the short answer is YES - we can help you with more than just travel.
Why would I choose to book through Weddings by Funjet vs. booking on my own?
Every group's needs are unique and that's why a Weddings by Funjet concierge is your advocate through every step of the process. From helping to navigate through destination and hotel options, to leveraging our 40+ years of travel relationships, to being your advocate and adviser while planning a wedding in a foreign country, a Weddings by Funjet concierge provides expertise and a team that you can't get booking on your own.
Do we get group discounts by booking through Weddings by Funjet?
Absolutely! Each partner has different discounts and amenities, but your Weddings by Funjet concierge will help negotiate the best possible group deal.
Are destination weddings more expensive?
Just like with any wedding, a destination wedding can stick to most any budget you set. But when you stay at an all-inclusive resort, much of the "food and beverage" cost is already built into your guests' stay, so your wedding costs are more around service, setup, decor, etc.
Does a destination wedding have to be planned far in advance?
Not at all! Assuming the wedding date is available (or that you have a little flexibility on the specific wedding date), a small wedding can be planned in as little as a few months. Even larger weddings are easily planned in 9 months.
When is the most popular/affordable time to have a destination wedding?
We get these questions a lot - but the answers really vary. Summer - especially May and August - is a peak time for destination weddings because many people need to account for their wedding party's schedules - which may include school children. Months like October and November are more affordable in-destination and provide more flexibility. Concierge tip: holidays and spring break times are more expensive and also mean hotels will fill up sooner, so if you're set on those times, be sure to plan ahead!
What is included in a typical hotel wedding package? Am I limited to those packages?
Hotel packages vary tremendously. In addition to some of the most stunning settings in the world, they may include things like the officiant, flowers, cake, and reservations for the group; but most packages are just a place to get started. You are not limited to the package - you can design any wedding event you'd like in destination.
What is the difference between a "legal" and a "symbolic" wedding?
Your Weddings by Funjet concierge can help you understand what is right for you, but the short answer is that a "legal" wedding is legally performed and recognized in the destination by a judge and a "symbolic" wedding has the legal paperwork/marriage done back in the US and just has a symbolic ceremony in the destination.
How should I even begin to budget for a destination wedding?
It's important to develop your all-in budget for the entire experience. Consider your personal travel (and any dependents), and then to that add your priorities (i.e. if a great photographer or DJ is really important to you), the general wedding events, and any outings or excursions for your group. Your concierge can help you build a budget that makes sense for you.
Am I responsible for my guests' travel as well?
Paying for it? Not unless you'd like to. You simply work with your concierge upfront to create a custom portal for your guests and then Weddings by Funjet's accommodations team takes care of helping them book their own travel. Some couples will choose to treat their guests with an additional group excursion in addition to the wedding - but that is a separate piece.
